The appearance of the descendant of the australian stock horse (perform & record #9)
The descendant of the Australian stock horse, otherwise known as The British-Arab Horse, was probably not very much different from the modern day Australian stock horse after the 1700's). The British-Arab Horse was probably about 5.2 feet tall and weighed about 750 pounds. It probably had large eyes located at the side of its head and wide nostrils. It also had a long arched neck, indistinct withers, a broad back and forehead, and a strong back. Its chest was small and not very wide. The legs were most likely strong and the hooves were hard, dense, and flat. The British-Arab Horse might have been light brown, its mane and tail the color black, and its hooves brown in color. Predicting the appearance of the British-Arab Horse was done based on the present characteristics of the Australian Stock Horse and the ancestors since the British-Arab Horse is a result of thoroughbreeding the Arabian horses, Barb blood, and Waler horse. The 1800's had tough environmental conditions such as rocky terrain, very little to no grasslands, pot holes, etc. and the British-Arab Horse travelled long distances so it had to be a tough horse with characteristics that reflected the environmental conditions at the time.
